Other things to keep in mind…

We value authenticity. You don’t have to pretend to be perfect in your application ;-)

We always recommend attending one of our Live Info Sessions if possible. Sign up here. You can hear from our program director and our program alums.

  • We accept applications (and administer scholarship funds) on a rolling basis.

We admit approximately 20 students into each program.

  • Families of past students have been able to access 529 funds successfully.

  • Yes. We offer full and partial scholarships for each program. You will have the option to indicate whether you would like to be considered during the preliminary application process.

  • Students are often recommended to our program through gap year, school, or college counselors. However, we do NOT pay commissions for referrals.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • You will be provided with a detailed packing list well in advance of the program. Here is a sample list for a full semester program. We don’t want things to be cost prohibitive and are always happy to see what we might have on hand.

  • 1) In the 10 days leading up to the program please do your best to avoid high risk areas, especially large crowds and crowded indoor spaces. If you have to pass through these areas, we encourage using masks to your comfort.

    2) Within that 10 day period, please report to us any close contacts you may have with persons who test positive for Covid and please report Covid related symptoms.

    3) All participants are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Please reach out directly regarding exemptions.

    4) If you are experiencing any symptoms, please take a rapid test at home before you arrive at Seguinland. If you test positive, contact us immediately by phone (207-607-0645) so we can help you troubleshoot your travel and arrival plans.

    5) We are asking all students to bring 2 over-the-counter rapid antigen tests to Seguinland for potential use during the course. Please purchase these well in advance of arrival.

    6) If you begin to feel ill during the program, please let a Seguinland staff member know. We encourage anyone who is experiencing symptoms to use masks in group spaces.

  • The closest airport is in Portland Maine - the airport code is PWM. The closest bus and train stations are in Brunwick, Maine. We provide pick-up and drop-off from these locations on program arrival and departure dates. You are also welcome to be dropped off on-campus by family or other loved ones.

WHILE YOU ARE HERE

  • Each student is responsible for their own prescription medication management while participating in the program. The sharing of prescription medication is prohibited. We also discourage any student from adjusting their prescription medication(s) during the program without the oversight of their physician. It is our hope that the program provides you with a sense of a new beginnings & a retreat-like setting, however the supportive environment we provide for personal growth should not be seen as the appropriate opportunity to adjust prescription meditations that you may be taking, particularly psychotropic medications that require the guidance of a medical professional. Staff will assist students with obtaining necessary refills of medication at a local pharmacy, however the responsibility of possessing the medication and monitoring the available supply resides with the student.

  • Yes. We strongly encourage you to continue any existing therapeutic relationships. You will be able to meet virtually/via phone with your therapist outside of scheduled programming. Please confirm that your therapist can meet remotely across state lines.

  • We have an on-call nurse. We also have an urgent care center in the neighboring town where student can be assessed for urgent health issues. There is also an emergency room an hospital 20 minutes drive away.

  • Housing will be assigned based on the housing preferences that you provide (e.g., same sex vs. gender neutral housing, night owl/early bird, preferred level of tidiness) we will share your rooming assignments on your arrival day.

  • You are not permitted to use a personal vehicle during your time at Seguinland. If you need to drive yourself to and from the program, reach out in advance and we can make arrangements for you to park your car on campus during the program.

  • Students have access to their cell phones in the evening on most days. We do try to unplug as much as possible and cell phones are left in cottages and out of communal spaces. We will have several tech fasts during the program when students will not have their phones overnight. In case of emergency, parents can reach us at anytime at 207-607-0645.

Our Executive Director, Philip Francis sends several emails to families throughout the program to help bring to life the on-the-ground experiences of the students.
